East Track Runner Commits

Kennadie Jinkins, sr., ends her high school athletic career by committing to Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Jinkins is a skilled track and field runner who has represented East well.

“A deciding factor when choosing Washburn was the environment,” Jinkins said. “The coaches, the team, and the school itself felt authentic.”

Committing to a college is an important decision in a student athlete’s career. It means committing to the social aspect of a school alongside the sport.

“I saw the connection that the girls on the team had with each other and wanted to be a part of a program that values relationships with teammates, coaches, and in the classroom,” Jinkins said.

After creating memories at East, Jinkins turns to a bright future as a college athlete. For student athletes, picking a college requires finding a school that suits athletic and academic needs.

“My favorite part of high school track would probably be the team itself,” Jinkins said. “It’s been a fun meeting new people every year and getting to know each other throughout the years.
